Au revoir to Justice Georgina Jackson

Published: 3 April 2006

Justice Georgina Jackson, the most recent visitor to ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ in the judicial sabbaticant programme for federally appointed judges, has profoundly marked the intellectual life of the Faculty in her seven-month stay here. A bilingual jurist with an abiding interest in Quebec law, she taught a course in judicial ethics with emphasis on comparative and international legal perspectives.

Her fresh viewpoints and insights, her collegiality and her involvement in all aspects of Faculty life made her a great favourite of students, as well as of staff and faculty members. Justice Jackson leaves in early April to resume her duties as a judge on the Court of Appeal for Saskatchewan.

At a gathering in her honour last week, she thanked the Faculty "for the privilege of spending my judicial study leave here. The atmosphere created by everyone at ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ is stimulating both intellectually and culturally. I leave with new friends and many fond memories."
