FREDERICTON, NB -- Freshman striker Stephanie Avery of Tsawwassen, B.C., came off the bench to score twice, including the game-winner as the 鲍鱼直播 women's soccer team tripled UNB 3-1 to take the opening game of their two-game preseason Maritime tour at Chapman Field, Saturday.

听

Avery tallied in the 48th and 72nd minutes to give the Martlets a commanding 3-0 lead after rookie midfielder Hannah Rivkin of St. John's, NL, had opened the scoring in the 34th minute.

听

Robyn Potter put UNB on the scoreboard with three minutes remaining in regulation time, firing a shot past rookie goalkeeper Victoria Muccilli, who subbed in at halftime for starter Val茅rie Labb茅 and was credited with her first victory in CIS play.

听

"Our performance tonight was pretty good but we missed a number of good scoring opportunities that we should have converted in the first 20 minutes," said Marc Mounicot, head coach of the Martlets. "We had more flow in the second half."

听

The Martlets improved to 6-1-0 in pre season play and will face a stronger side on Sunday as eighth-ranked UPEI is one of the top teams in the AUS conference. The Panthers are expected to have a strong season as they will be hosting the CIS championship tournament in November.
