Bielby and Bibeau named ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ - Old Orchard athletes of the week

MONTREAL -- Steven Bielby of Pte. Claire, Que., and Hélène Bibeau of St. Bruno, Que., are the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ - Ye Olde Orchard athletes of the week, for the period ending Jan. 22, 2012.
Bielby, who measures 5-foot-8 and 155 pounds, earned three gold medals, in addition to a silver and was named swimmer of the meet for the fourth time in as many meets this season, as ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ captured the men's division of the Quebec Cup swim meet in Quebec City, Saturday. The 22-year-old electrical engineering senior racked up a meet-high 632 points on the FINA scale. He won the 400-metre freestyle (3:57.95), the 200 individual medley (2:05.16) and also contributed to a win in the 4x50 freestyle relay (1:35.58). A product of John Abbott College, he was also second in the 200 butterfly (2:04.14).
Bibeau, a 6-foot-1 sophomore ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ with the basketball Martlets, came off the bench to score 16 points as visiting ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ handed division-leading Concordia their first loss with a 57-52 decision, Saturday. Bibeau, a 23-year-old elementary education junior who played only 18 minutes, shot 5-for-6 from the field, including a stellar 4-for-5 performance from three-point range, and made both of her free-throw attempts.
Both athletes will receive a gift certificate from Ye Olde Orchard Pub.
