OTTAWA - Third baseman Casey Auerbach of Westmount, Que., went 6-for-8 with four runs batted in and a pair of doubles as the visiting ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ Redmen baseball team opened their season with a doubleheader sweep over the Ottawa Gee-Gees, Saturday, winning 12-0 in the opener and 7-0 in the night-cap at Heritage Park.
Auerbach, a third-year English major, posted identical stats in each game.
Second baseman Josh Gordon of Dollard des Ormeaux, Que., and shortstop Alex Day of Toronto also had a good day at the plate. Gordon went 4-for-7 with two RBIs, a pair of runs and a walk, while Day went 4-for-8 with three runs and a pair of RBIs.
Starting pitcher Conrad Hall, a chemical engineering senior from Pointe Claire, Que., tossed a mercy-rule shortened two-hitter in the opener for the shutout. He walked a pair and struck out two others in five innings of work.
L.J. Aguinaga of Dollard des Ormeaux, Que., worked the night-cap. The third-year management major pitched a complete game three-hitter, striking out five and walking two in seven innings of work.
±«ÓãÖ±²¥ (2-0) has a return series with the Gee-Gees (0-2) at Trudeau Park in Cote St. Luc, Sunday, beginning at 12 noon.
