CIS TOP 10 TUESDAY (#13) : Both ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ hockey and swim teams ranked this week

OTTAWA (CIS) - Four ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ varsity sports teams find themselves among the CIS national rankings this week.

Ìý

The Dalhousie Tigers dethrone Toronto in men's swimming, while in wrestling the Brock Badgers and Regina Cougars move up to No. 1 in the women's and men's rankings, respectively.

Ìý

In other CIS sports, Regina (women's basketball), Carleton (men's basketball), ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ (women's hockey), UNB (men's hockey), Calgary (women's swimming), UBC (women's volleyball) and Trinity Western (men's volleyball) all maintain their No. 1 status. All except Regina are reigning CIS champions.

In women's basketball, the top-ranked Cougars improved to 7-0 in conference play over the past weekend thanks to a 91-66 victory over CIS newcomer UBC Okanagan and a close-fought 83-78 win against Thompson Rivers.

In men's hoops, Carleton (6-0) also survived a close call last weekend. The Ravens easily beat Guelph 98-55 on Friday night but got all they could handle from No. 3 Lakehead Saturday in Thunder Bay before prevailing 88-85.

In women's hockey, the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ Martlets defeated cross-town rival Concordia 6-2 on Sunday to move to 10-1 in regular season action.

In men's hockey, the Varsity Reds (10-2-1) beat St. Thomas 5-3 in their lone outing of the past week.

In women's volleyball, the Thunderbirds improved to 8-0 with a two-game sweep of Calgary, 3-0 and 3-1.

In men's volleyball, the Spartans scored a pair of straight-set wins over UBC Okanagan to move to 8-0 in Canada West play.
