Deuces wild for Capolungo in whitewash over Citadins

MONTREAL - Sophomore Yohann Capolungo, a native of France, scored twice as the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ Redmen came out firing with four first-half goals and coasted to an easy 4-0 win over UQAM at Molson Stadium, Sunday.

Capolungo, a speedy 5-foot-9, 158-pound ±«ÓãÖ±²¥,netted the game-winner at the 21-minute mark of the opening stanza and made it 3-0 in the 39th minute.

Eugene Graske, a fourth-year import from Germany, tallied the insurance marker, converting a pass from Gareth Pugh in the 33rd minute. Pugh then made it 4-0 in the final minute of the opening half to move into a tie for first-place among QUSL scoring leaders. He now has five goals and three assists in 11 contests, with one game remaining.

Goalkeeper Jean-Lou Gosselin of Longueuil, Que., made four saves for the shutout. The Citadins used two keepers. Raphael Schott started and concededl four goals on six shots before being replaced at halftime by Alexandre Rouge, who blanked the Redmen the rest of the way.

The win all but clinched a playoff berth for ±«ÓãÖ±²¥, which sits third in the Quebec conference standings with a 5-3-3 record, four points ahead of fourth-place UQAM (3-2-5). A win or tie in their final regular season game, at UQTR on Nov. 1, will assure the Redmen of participating in post-season play. Fifth-place UQTR (3-3-4) has two games in hand and can still catch the Redmen with a pair of victories..
