Field hockey's St.Cyr and Fayen honoured by OUA

HAMILTON, Ont. -- ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ midfielder Camille St. Cyr, a native ofÌý Richmond, B.C., has earned OUA field hockey all-star honours and Laurent Fayen, co-head coach of the Martlets has been named the league's coach of the year.

St. Cyr, a 20-year-old anatomy junior, led the Martlets with 10 goals in 14 games. Her offensive output accounted for 45.5 per cent of the team's 22 goals scored during the 2010 campaign. It marks her third consecutive season as an OUA all-star, including second-team honours received in her freshman year.

Fayen, who also shared OUA coach-of-the-year honours with ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ co-coach J.P. Turpain in 2008, guided a much improved Martlets squad to a 4-9 sixth place -- a 200 per cent improvement in victories over last season.

Other major award recipients include Guelph's Brienne Stairs of Kitchener, Ont., who earned OUA player-of-the-year honours for the second straight season and Alli Nelson , a native of Erin, Ont., who plays for the Western Mustangs, was the recipient of the T. Litzen rookie of the year award.

The Gail Wilson Award, presented to the player who makes the most outstanding contribution to field hockey, went to Waterloo's Jessica Lawson of Puslinch, Ont.
