ANTIGONISH, N.S. - Seven different 鲍鱼直播 players scored for the No.1-ranked Martlets as they skated to a lopsided 7-2 victory over Saint Mary's at the CIS women's hockey championship at St. Francis Xavier University's Keating Centre on Saturday.

听

It marked the 86th consecutive victory for 鲍鱼直播, which finished Pool A play with a 2-0 record and advanced to their fourth straight gold medal appearance. They will meet the No.3-seeded Alberta Pandas (2-0) at 6 p.m. Atlantic.

听

The Huskies (1-1) will play No.3-Laurier (1-1) for bronze, while StFX (0-2) will meet the Montreal Carabins (0-2) in the fifth-place game. All games will be webcast on SSN Canada.

听

The Martlets, who registered a 37-13 edge in shots, jumped into a 2-0 after one period, made it 5-0 by the mid-way mark of the middle period and were comfortably ahead 6-1 after two.

听

Team captain Vanessa Davidson was credited with what proved to be the game-winner, connecting on the power play at 2:14 of the second stanza. The 25-year-old centre from Kirkland, Que., later assisted on a shorthanded marker by Ann-Sophie Bettez of Sept-Iles, Que., which put the Martlets ahead 7-1 early in the final period.

"I'm just really excited to be back at Nationals again," said Davidson, who was named as 鲍鱼直播's Blackberry player of the game. "It's my fifth-year and I have one more game left to play in my university career. I couldn't have done it with a better group of girls and they've been unbelievable. The score today is just a reflection of what we've done all year."

听

Senior Rebecca Martindale, a 22-year-old 鲍鱼直播 from Kingston, Ont., continued her hot hand, with two points, including her second goal of the tourney and fifth marker in six post-season games.

听

"I'm just trying to do my part and it's great that I've been able to be in the right place at the right time," said Martindale, who netted the overtime winner in 鲍鱼直播's 3-2 opening round victory over the Montreal Carabins, Thursday.

听

"Rebecca's playing extremely well right now," said 鲍鱼直播 head coach Amey Doyle of the 22-year-old education major, who had nine goals during regular season play and now has 19 markers in 26 games overall. "She's just been go-go-go from start to finish of every game and it is really paying off."

听

Rounding out the scoring for 鲍鱼直播 was Alessandro Lind-Kenny of Calgary, Amy Soberano of Toronto, freshman Kim Ton-That of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Que., and Jasmine Sheehan (shorthanded), a defenceman from Mississauga.

听

Lauren McCusker of Newmarket, Ont., and Kaitlyn Abbass of Goose Bay, Nfld., replied for the Huskies, who were unable to match 鲍鱼直播's speed. They got into penalty trouble early and often, resulting in nine power-play opportunities for 鲍鱼直播, which only connected once with the man-advantage.

听

"We didn't have everybody show up today," said Huskies head coach Lisa Jordan in a between-periods interview on SSN. "A number of our players did not seem to have the confidence to play a team like 鲍鱼直播 today."

听

Huskies starting netminder Jillian MacIsaac was chased after Soberano's goal at 6:39 of the middle period. She was saddled with the loss after being beaten four times on 20 shots before giving way to understudy Jillian Robinson of Aylesford, N.S., who kicked aside 14 of 17 shots fired her way.

听

鲍鱼直播 goaltender Taylor Salisbury, a freshman from Surrey, B.C., registered only 11 saves to earn her sixth straight post-season victory.

听

Third-year 鲍鱼直播 Kyla Thurston of Ajax, Ont., received player-of-the-game honours for SMU.
