THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Alexandre Picard-Hooper, a 21-year-old finance freshman with the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ Redmen, has earned national all-rookie honours as Canadian Interuniversity Sport announced its major award winners at the men's hockey championships in Thunder Bay, Wednesday night.

The 5-foot-9, 185-pound centre from Boucherville, was the top scoring rookie in the 16-team Ontario league (OUA) with 10 goals and 36 points in 28 regular season games. It equalled the second-best single-season points output ever by a ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ freshman. The school record is 66 points in 30 league games by George Burnett in 1982-83. Picard-Hooper matched the output by Patrice Tremblay, who had 18-18-36 in 21 games during the 1989-90 campaign.

Picard-Hooper, who finished ninth in the OUA scoring race and was named as the league’s rookie of the year, also led all OUA scorers in the playoffs with a 5-6-11 record in eight contests. He is currently at the CIS Nationals with the Redmen and has 16 goals and 52 points in 42 games overall, the third-highest total ever by a ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ freshman. The school record is 81 points in 38 games overall by George Burnett in 1982-83 and Patrice Tremblay posted 55 points in in 36 contests during the 1989-90 season.

Picard-Hooper joined the Redmen last fall after racking up 137 goals and 323 points in 265 QMJHL games with Baie Comeau and St. John.
