Morin-Boucher nets hat as Martlets ram Ryerson

MONTREAL - Striker Alexandra Morin-Boucher netted a hat-trick as
±«ÓãÖ±²¥ hammered Ryerson 7-0 in women's preseason soccer at Molson
Stadium, Monday.
The physical education sophomore gave ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ a 2-0 lead on goals in
the 10th and 23rd minutes, then sent the home side intoÌý a
comfortable lead after her marker in the 38th minute made it
4-0.
It was the first victory of the season for the Martlets (1-0-1),
which held a 9-0 margin in shots on net and an 8-1 edge in corner
kicks.
Sophomore midfielder Anna Smith of Somerville, Mass., added a pair
of goals, with singles going to Laura Gibson, a sophomore from
Bloomingdale, Ont., and freshman Courtney Nelson of Wauwatosa,
Wisconsin.
Goalkeeper Shimone Slomowitz (1-0-1), a sophomore from West
Vancouver, B.C., played the full 90 minutes to earn the
shutout.
"We made some good technical adjustments to move and hold the ball
well," said ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ head coach Marc Mounicot. "We played some
quality soccer, the type of game that we want to play throughout
the season. The execution was there and our ability to finish was
good for team confidence."
±«ÓãÖ±²¥ will head south of the border to New Haven, Conn., for a
non-conference game at Yale University on Aug. 26.
"They are part of a very strong Ivy league conference and will be a
good test for us," said Mounicot. "To improve we much face some
adversity and I expect that Yale will provide us with that kind of
a challenge."
