NHL players poised to participate at Redmen Summer Hockey tourney, Saturday

MONTREAL - The impending National Hockey League lockout has been a boon to the fourth annual Redmen 4-on-4 Summer Hockey tournament. A dozen players affiliated with NHL teams have signed up to take part in the one-day event on Saturday (Aug. 25) at McConnell Arena (3883 University) on the campus of ±«ÓãÖ±²¥.
Among the pros confirmed is David Desharnais of the Montreal Canadiens and Maxime Talbot of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Others include Philippe Dupuis (Pittsburgh), Bruno Gervais (Philadelphia), Pier-Marc Bouchard (Minnesota), Guillaume Desbiens (Calgary), Pier-Cédric Labrie (Tampa Bay), Jean-Philippe °äô³Ùé (Tampa Bay), François Bouchard (NY Rangers), Yann ³§²¹³Ü±¹Ã© (Vancouver), Nicolas Deslauriers (Los Angeles) and Nicolas Blanchard (Carolina).
The tourney will feature 10 teams, with up to 10 players apiece, including a maximum of four elite players per team. Elite participants are considered to be anyone who played last season at the university level or higher. ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ players and coaches will serve as captains for each squad.
Mini-games (28-minutes, running time) are slated all day, beginning with the opener at 9 a.m. and culminating with the tourney's gold medal game at 9:45 p.m.
The format is a three-game round-robin, with the top four teams advancing to the playoff round, composed of a sudden-death semifinal and Ìýfinal games.
Admission to watch all games is free of charge.
