Peroff and Wright named ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ athletes of the week

Jordanna Peroff of Keswick, Ont., and Andrew Wright of Toronto, are the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ University athletes of the week for the period ending March 13, 2011.

Peroff, a 21-year-old senior majoring in world religions, was named tournament MVP and led all scorers with five points in three games as ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ captured the CIS women's hockey championship in Waterloo, Ont., over the weekend. The 5-foot-6 ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ set up two goals in a 4-2 win over Alberta last Thursday, then tallied the game-winner in a 3-1 victory over Queen's on Saturday. She then scored once and assisted on the winning goal in a 5-2 decision over St. F.X. in Sunday's gold medal affair. Peroff, who was named player of the game in each of the last two contests, enrolled at ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ in 2007 from Keswick high school.

Wright, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound right-winger with the men's hockey team, scored three points and was named Harrow Sports player of the game in ±«ÓãÖ±²¥'s 6-2 road victory over the Western Ontario Mustangs en route to capturing the centennial edition of the OUA's Queen's Cup league championship. The 21-year-old economics junior scored ±«ÓãÖ±²¥'s second marker to give the Redmen a 2-0 lead, the added helpers to give improve that to 4-1 and 4-2 leads, respectively. Prior to ±«ÓãÖ±²¥, he attended the Crescent School.
