Top 10 Tuesday: ±«ΣγΦ±²₯ soccer squads move up and down

OTTAWAΜύ - The undefeated ±«ΣγΦ±²₯ Martlets have jumped three spots to the No. 2 position in this week's CIS soccer Top 10 rankings. Meanwhile, on the men's side, the Redmen slid three spots to No.6 in the wake of last Friday's home-field loss to Laval.

In women's soccer, the two-time defending champion Trinity Western Spartans improved to a perfect 4-0 in Canada West conference play last weekend with shutouts over Regina (1-2-1), 2-0, and Manitoba (0-2-2), 1-0. The Spartans remain at home this week and are set to battle Saskatchewan (1-2-1) on Friday and No. 4 Alberta (4-0-0) on Saturday in a battle of undefeated teams.

Rounding out the fourth national coaches poll of the fall are No. 2 ±«ΣγΦ±²₯ (4-0-0), No. 3 Wilfrid Laurier (5-0-0), No. 5 UBC (3-0-1), No. 6 Montreal (3-1-0), No. 7 Queen's (5-1-0), No. 8 Laval (3-1-0), No. 9 Ottawa (3-1-1) and No. 10 UPEI (2-0-2).

In men's soccer, the Laval Rouge et Or, who captured their first-ever CIS title in 2009, improved to 4-0 for the first time in team history with a pair of huge shutout wins, 1-0 over No. 6 ±«ΣγΦ±²₯ (2-1-0) and 2-0 over perennial QSSF powerhouse Montreal (2-1-1). The contest against ±«ΣγΦ±²₯ was a rematch of last year's national final, won 3-2 by Laval.
