On Tuesday April 30th 2024, the Association of Graduate Students Employed at ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ (AGSEM) filed the attached petition for the certification of academic support workers employed by ±«ÓãÖ±²¥. The academic support workers in the attached list are targeted by this unionization drive.

The Association of Graduate Students Employed at ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ (AGSEM) has informed us of its intent to go on strike on Monday, March 25, 2024. This follows a vote held between March 13 and 16, 2024, providing AGSEM with an 8-week strike mandate, pending negotiation progress for the renewal of their collective agreement.

In the event of a labour dispute, the University will continue its operations. The academic integrity of programs will be honoured, and students, faculty and staff will have the freedom to enter and exit the University building and grounds. The University wishes to take all measures necessary to ensure that students are not unduly affected by a strike, particularly the graduating class.

The AGSEM Unit 2-Union of Invigilators held its General Assembly on November 17, 2022 to present the tentative agreement to its members. We are pleased to announce that members voted in favor of the proposed new collective agreement. The current agreement expired on April 30, 2020. The new agreement will come into effect upon signature by the parties and will expire on December 1, 2025.

We are pleased to inform you that, after nineteen months of negotiations between the parties, a tentative agreement with AGSEM for the Invigilators was reached on November 1st with the support of a conciliator appointed by the Ministry of Labor.

The union will hold an assembly on November 17th for their members to vote on the tentative agreement.

We will keep you posted on the vote results as soon as we know.

The parties met on Sept. 17 and Sept. 27, 2018. They shared their respective proposals concerning the renewal of the collective agreement, which expired on June 30, 2018. Each party explained its proposals and a discussion plan for the various articles was established. Discussions around the articles pertaining to the objective of the agreement and to the definitions led to agreements which will be ratified at a subsequent meeting. Three meetings are planned in October and other meeting dates will soon be confirmed.
