Family histories have a real influence on career choices. This is particularly true of Berdj Garabedian, who is the 2015 recipient of the ֱ Associates Prize in Translation (French-English). Mr. Garabedian received this distinction at the spring graduation ceremony when he was awarded his Certificate in Translation.

On September 20th ֱ was the successful organizer and host of the annual Medical Student Symposium. During this event, a "Prix de la relève en Médecine de famille" was awarded.

Created in 2013, the prize is awarded to a resident or a student that revealed his leadership skills. The 2014 winner is Dr Marc André Lavallée.

Congratulations to Afroza Sultana, ֱ School of Information Studies PhD student, on her nomination as a Graphics, Animation and New Media Network of Centres of Excellence (GRAND NCE) Postgraduate Scholar.

As a GRAND scholar, Afroza will receive a stipend of $10,000 annually for three years to investigate the design of accessible touch-screen devices for older adults to support prolonged independent living.

Recent ֱ School of Information Studies graduate Rhiannon Gainor (PhD ’14) has been awarded a 2014 Eugene Garfield Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship. This prestigious honour is awarded annually to up to six recipients in an international competition by Beta Phi Mu, the International Library and Information Studies Honor Society. This marks the second time a PhD student from the School has won the award.
