A rose-red city half as old as time .... reflects some truth about Petra. This remote dead city, located in Jordan, was rediscovered in the early 1800's and is one of the world's great archaeological treasures. It has been declared the 8th Wonder of the Ancient World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors are awestruck by its deep canyons and multi-coloured mountains into which the ancient city was carved. This illustrated lecture will focus on Petra's history and the culture of its Nabatean inhabitants, its magnificent sights, as well as personal photographs of my visit.
