The world population is 7 billion, increasing at a rate of 80 million/yr. At the same time demand for fresh water is increasing by 70bi. M3/yr. In 2010 it was estimated that over one billion persons were underfed. No substantial increase in global food production is possible without an increase in water consumption. Have we enough water?
