Event

Cybersecurity in research exploration

Monday, January 15, 2024toFriday, March 29, 2024

Calling all researchers to talk about the state of cybersecurity in research!

In the coming months, ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ will be undertaking a cybersecurity exploration exercise for both administrative units and research activities. This process will be led by an external firm and is intended to provide insights into areas where cybersecurity improvements may be needed across the University.

We are looking for ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ researchers to take part in a cybersecurity exploration focus group. We invite researchers from all disciplines to share their experiences, practices, and perspectives about cybersecurity in their research.

Ìý

What will it involve?

Participants will be asked to join a focus group session, which is expected to last approximately 90 minutes. The exact dates of the focus groups are yet to be determined but are expected to take place between January and March.

Ìý

What if I don’t know much about cybersecurity?

Participants do not need to be experts in cybersecurity – in fact, to get a comprehensive understanding of the current state, it’s essential that we hear from researchers who are not very familiar with this topic!

Ìý

What are the benefits of taking part?

Due in part to its leading research, ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ is an attractive target to cyber attackers, and we all have a role to play in safeguarding ±«ÓãÖ±²¥'s research systems from these potential attacks.

This exercise aims to improve cybersecurity practices to safeguard the hard work, innovation, and creativity of the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ research community. It will allow the University to establish a roadmap for better cybersecurity services and support for all researchers, making compliance with new regulations easier to achieve.
