IT Services Year in Review 2019

The is here! Read the message from the CIO and highlights of the projects we delivered to the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ community.

Message from the CIO, Marc Denoncourt

Marc Denoncourt, Chief Information OfficerI accepted the position as ±«ÓãÖ±²¥'s CIO in April, 2019. As former CIO of Concordia University and with 9 years of experience in the Canadian higher education ecosystem, I was well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of leading ±«ÓãÖ±²¥â€™s IT organization and contributing to ±«ÓãÖ±²¥'s successes. What quickly impressed me at ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ was the teams' customer-focused approach and dedication to deliver the highest quality services and projects to our stakeholders. I was also struck by the enormous demand for new projects, coming from faculties and departments across the university.

Now that I’ve had a chance to settle in, I can confidently say that we have the expertise and talent to deliver on our large-scale commitments, which will significantly improve the day-to-day lives of ±«ÓãÖ±²¥â€™s students, faculty and staff members.

I am very proud of our progress over the past year, particularly in the area of Human Resources. A cross-functional team of project managers, business analysts, HR business experts, developers, subject matter experts and change agents have been working together to implement a new HR self-service portal, and I look ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ to its rollout in July 2020. We are continually updating our network infrastructure and IT security practices, to protect university and personal data and educate the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ community on the importance of cybersecurity vigilance. We have also implemented several new services to help students achieve their academic goals and maintain their overall well-being. These projects, and many more, are highlighted in this 2019 annual report.

Looking ahead to 2020

One of my priorities in 2020 will be developing our next 5-year strategic plan for IT Services. Digital experiences are gradually being integrated into all aspects of university life and they impact the way we teach, learn, work, recruit, do research, do fundraising, etc. In collaboration with key ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ stakeholders, we will build a strategy to bring in new ways of using technology to foster teaching, learning and research. We will also continue to deliver increased customer-focused services, enabling the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ community with greater access to tools and knowledge wherever and whenever they need it.

I invite you to read about the successes we have enjoyed this past year and thank those who have contributed as members of the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ family.
