But for those of use who need a little help centring ourselves, focussing, concentrating, or zoning out into a meditative-like state, sometimes music can help. Experiencing the divine. Tasting that sweet essence of God. For the Sikh, God has no form. God has no shape, age, race, or gender. God was never born, and will never cease to be. God is. That's it. The Sikh definition of God, found in the beginning of the Sikh scripture (the Aad Guru Granth Sahib) and the main Sikh prayer (the Mool Mantra), is not so much a definition as an anti-definition. God is told to be timeless. The face of God Guru Nanak says the face of God is immortality. The enemy of God? God has no enemy, and God holds no enmity. So what is this God then?
Mon, 19 Dec 2022 21:13:56 +0000 Santbir Singh 2419 at /morsl Me and My Advent Wreath /morsl/article/holidays-and-holy-days-radix/me-and-my-advent-wreath
I grew up in a family of Lutheran background. Today, I still feel quite connected to my faith and traditions. Part of that tradition is the Advent Wreath; something one can find in many Christian homes and most churches in the month leading up to Christmas. As a child, I was always captivated by the Wreath, and as a young adult a lot of people ask me about its significance. The Wreath is symbolic in several ways, but also carries sentimental value for many individuals, including myself.
Thu, 15 Dec 2022 21:02:03 +0000 Christoph Sprecher 2413 at /morsl Little Things /morsl/article/holidays-and-holy-days-radix/little-things
As another holiday season arrives, I take the time to reflect on what it means to me. Succinctly, he finds the central cry of black people and other exploited groups around the world to be “we want to be free” (King 280). He expands on this declaration by writing that “we are saying that we are determined to be men. We are determined to be people. We are saying that we are God’s children.
Thu, 18 Mar 2021 18:20:51 +0000 Grace Feeney 2145 at /morsl
