Ethan Ponton

Dear Donor,

My name is Ethan and I am a recipient of the Faculty of Science Scholarship in my fourth year studying Anatomy and Cell Biology. In my first year of studies at ֱ, I was unsure of what I wanted to do with my degree, but became fascinated with the idea of studying anatomical sciences. My interest started because I am also a professional ballet dancer and was always told to “tighten this muscle” or “think about the rotation in this joint.” I wanted to pursue a degree that would inspire me and apply to both major focuses in my life. Being able to work with human cadavers and learn the intricacies of human anatomy and physiology has advanced both my academic and artistic careers. Once I started to study anatomy and cell biology and had the opportunity to get into pathology as well, I became motivated to study medicine and ultimately specialize in a surgical discipline, which is now my overarching goal.

To receive this scholarship means a great deal to me. It was very unexpected, and I happened to be notified just two days before I wrote the Medical College Admissions Test. At the peak of exam stress, having the extra support on such an extraordinary journey helped to relieve some of the stress and remember that if I put the hard work in, everything will work out in the end. Thank you for your generosity and encouragement!

Sincerely,

Ethan
