Overview

InĀ the African Studies program, you can develop a deeper understanding of the African continentĀ and its peoples,Ā fromĀ the history,Ā religions and culturesĀ of different regions,Ā toĀ contemporaryĀ postcolonial literature,Ā issues inĀ healthĀ andĀ economicĀ development.Ā TheseĀ interdisciplinary coursesĀ can leadĀ to a Minor or Major Concentration.Ā Ā 

Established in 1969, the program was the first of its kind in Canada.Ā You will gain an appreciation forĀ the contributionsĀ thatĀ Africans have madeĀ to world culture and civilization, and an awareness of theĀ factors affecting thisĀ continent's current struggle to achieve development.
