Unfortunately, there is no migration path available for this process.
Thu, 26 Oct 2023 19:34:28 +0000 Nadia Kovaleva 6238 at /web-services Maximizing website excellence through digital minimalism /web-services/article/projects-tips/maximizing-website-excellence-through-digital-minimalism
In the fast-paced digital realm we're bombarded with endless information and choices. A timeless mantra shines through the chaos: "Less is more." This principle, popularized in architecture but now a guiding light in web design, suggests that simplicity can yield greater impact. By decluttering our websites at ±«ÓãÖ±²¥, we can create content that is easy to navigate and is tailored to our user requirements.
Wed, 04 Oct 2023 14:25:20 +0000 daniel.zhang@mail.mcgill.ca 6228 at /web-services Saying goodbye to Quick Links /web-services/article/news/saying-goodbye-quick-links
Summary: Our first Drupal 9 sites - ±«ÓãÖ±²¥'s Staff Directory and our search pages - are live and more are coming soon! Sites in Drupal 9 will have a cleaner, more modern header. The new header will no longer have Quick Links (the list of links that open from a red button in the top right corner). To simplify the transition, we'll remove Quick Links from all WMS sites as of October 16, 2023.
Wed, 13 Sep 2023 20:58:54 +0000 joyce.peralta2@mcgill.ca 6168 at /web-services Desperately Seeking CKEditor 5 /web-services/article/features/desperately-seeking-ckeditor-5
There was a time when anyone who wanted to edit a website needed to know HTML, and a small error in the code could create lopsided layouts and hours of misery for the editor. So, we should all feel grateful for the WYSIWYG editor that is available in the WMS. All the more so since it is about to get even better!

As the WMS moves to Drupal 9, CKEditor 5 will be used as its WYSIWYG editor, with a wonderfully revamped toolbar that is constantly visible while scrolling, and contextual toolbars that appear when you click on objects such as tables, images, and links.
Thu, 09 Mar 2023 14:30:49 +0000 andrew.collier@mcgill.ca 5925 at /web-services New kid on the block: blocks in Drupal 9 /web-services/article/features/new-kid-block-blocks-drupal-9
When the WMS switches to Drupal 9 blocks, it will continue to offer the same block templates you love (Statement, Call to Action, etc.), but with a more intuitive interface for creating and configuring those blocks, and more flexibility for placing the blocks on your site.

Place blocks in multiple regions

Blocks in Drupal 9 can be placed in different regions on different pages, or even in multiple regions of the same page. Gone are the days when you had to create numerous, identical, blocks to achieve this.
Wed, 08 Feb 2023 21:06:10 +0000 andrew.collier@mcgill.ca 5910 at /web-services I can see clearly now. The Claro theme in Drupal 9 /web-services/article/features/i-can-see-clearly-now-claro-theme-drupal-9
You probably don’t think about the administrative theme in the WMS, and that’s the best sign that it’s doing its job well. The people who developed it, on the other hand, did put a lot of thought into improving it, and we will all benefit from this effort when the WMS moves to Drupal 9.

The new theme is called Claro, and it was developed following a UX Study that asked content editors to share their experiences and suggestions.

The updates focus on usability and accessibility rather than functional changes, bringing enhancements such as
Mon, 16 Jan 2023 21:17:58 +0000 andrew.collier@mcgill.ca 5880 at /web-services
