TheĀ Information Assessment MethodĀ (IAM) systematically documentsĀ reflection onĀ clinical information, delivered or retrieved from electronic knowledge resources.Ā IAM enhances continuing education by stimulating reflective learning, evaluation of knowledge resources, and two-way knowledge exchange between information users and information providers.Ā
Here we provide information aboutĀ IAM, which is linked to:

(2) information retrieval technology, and
(3) clinical decision support systems.
Through literature reviews, qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods studies, we have documented the feasibility, content validity, construct validity, and substantive validity (theoretical rationale)Ā of the IAM questionnaire. WhenĀ combined with a technique calledĀ Computerized Ecological Momentary Assessment,Ā IAM efficiently evaluates theĀ ārelevance - cognitive impact - use - health benefitsā of informationĀ objectsĀ retrieved from (pull) or delivered by (push) knowledge resources.
