If you have or adopt a child

Supplemental health

You must switch from single to family coverage, unless your child is covered under your spouse's group health plan.

If your child is covered under your spouse's group health plan, he/she may be added to your plan upon involuntarily loss of coverage under your spouse's group health plan within 60 days of their loss of coverage .ÌýWritten proof of this loss of coverage will be required.

Dental

You may switch from single to family coverage within:

  • 60 days ofÌýthe birth or adoption of your child, or
  • 60 daysÌýof the child's third birthday, or
  • 60 days of ceasing to be covered under another dental insurance plan.

Should you miss the 60-day window,Ìýyour child will be registered for coverage under the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ Dental PlanÌýeffective January 1st of the year immediately following the year in which the life event occurred.

Life insurance

Your coverage will remain unchanged.

Note: We recommend that you review your beneficiaries and the amount of Optional Life Insurance you require.

If your child marries, assumes full-time employment or turns 21 (26 if a full-time student)

Supplemental health

The child no longer qualifies for coverage under the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ Supplemental health Plan.

If this is your last eligible family member, you need to switch from family to single coverage.

Dental

The child no longer qualifies for coverage under the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ Supplemental health Plan.

If this is your last eligible family member, you need to switch from family to single coverage.
