Timothy Lane

Timothy Lane is the 2024-2025 J.W. McConnell Visiting Professor of Practice. He was Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada during 2009-22, participating in Canadian monetary policy decisions and leading work on a wide range of economic and financial issues. He has extensive international experience, serving 20 years on the staff of the IMF and later as Canada's G7 & G20 Central Bank Deputy. He also has considerable experience in organization leadership, notably through the pandemic. He has published on various of topics related to economic and financial policy. Tim received his PhD in Economics from the University of Western Ontario. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and an Executive in Residence at the Global Risk Institute (GRI). He will serve as a 2025 Policy Lab coach for a team of MPPs.
