Office of Ethics and Compliance
The Office of Research Ethics and Compliance serves researchers working with human participants or animals. ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ follows strict research integrity standards while cultivating and reinforcing a culture that enables its members to identify and resolve conflicts of interest with the support and guidance of the administration and their units.
Secretariat
The Secretariat is the corporate head office for ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ and the Royal Institution for the Advancement of Learning and the University's governance office responsible for the Board of Governors, Senate and their committees. It is also an impartial office which carries out a range of regulatory functions including the administration of processes related to academic tenure and promotion, academic staff and student dispute resolutions, safe disclosure, access to documents, University-wide elections and statutory advisory committees.
For issues within the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ community, Student Advocacy offers free and confidential adviceÌýand representation to ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ students accused of a disciplinary offence (such as plagiarism or cheating) or students who feel unjustly treated by the University. We help students find formal and informal solutions to their problems.

Created by Canada's three federal research agencies, , and , the Panel on Responsible Conduct of Research (PRCR) is part of a collaborative objective to ensure a coherent and uniform approach for promoting responsible conduct of research and for addressing allegations of breaches of Tri-Agency Policies, consistent with the Tri-Agency Framework: Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR Framework).
On this page, there are various resources and requirements related to the FRQ’s Policy for the Responsible Conduct of Research.The Policy sets out best practices, describes the responsibilities of each actor and clearly defines breaches of responsible conduct of research, which include breaches of research integrity. In addition, it dictates the parameters that must be respected by institutions in managing breaches of responsible conduct of research and when relaying information to the FRQ. It also provides parameters for the management of breaches of responsible conduct of research by the FRQ, including the establishment of a responsible conduct of research committee within the FRQ.
The Office of Research Integrity (ORI) oversees and directs Public Health Service (PHS) research integrity activities on behalf of the Secretary of Health and Human Services with the exception of the regulatory research integrity activities of the Food and Drug Administration.
A new sensibilization tool for members of the research community, created by Québec’s Chief Scientist and the FRQ, is now available online. It aims to foster awareness of best practices for the responsible conduct of research among students and researchers through activities focused on decision making in real research contexts.
This course provides an in-depth review of the core RCR topics including authorship, collaborative research, conflicts of interest, human subjects, and research misconduct. COPE is committed to educating and supporting editors, publishers and those involved in publication ethics with the aim of moving the culture of publishing towards one where ethical practices become a normal part of the publishing culture.
The ICMJE is a small group of general medical journal editors and representatives of selected related organizations working together to improve the quality of medical science and its reporting. ICMJE meets annually to refine its Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals.
The WCRIF foster the exchange of information and discussion about responsible conduct of research. The WCRIF fulfills this mission by:
- promoting the continuation of World Conferences on Research Integrity on a regular schedule;
- ensuring organizational continuity between conferences;
- maintaining a World Conferences on Research Integrity website; and
- publishing and disseminating guidance or policies agreed to at World Conferences on Research Integrity.
