An exploration of the principles underlying the current practice of machine learning (ML) by focusing on fundamental ML algorithms applied to many domains. This course is designed to help students learn to think critically about data and models, understand the conceptual underpinnings of the basic ML algorithms and techniques, how they work, how to choose an algorithm for each kind of learning task, and how to visualize, evaluate, and interpret performance measures and results correctly.
Margaret Mackenzie (BEd鈥�23), Samantha Nepton听(BEd鈥�23), and Taylor Richardson (BFA'23 Towson University), are winners of McCall MacBain Scholarships, Canada鈥檚 largest leadership-based scholarships for master鈥檚 and professional studies.

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship:
Rasel Babu, in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, received a 鲍鱼直播 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship for their research topic: "Pedagogues' Readiness to Integrate Educational Technology for Teaching Language and Mathematics in Bangladeshi Secondary Classrooms."
Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship:
Gender disparities persist glaringly around the globe with gender-based violence standing out as one of the most widespread human rights violations. Alarmingly, only 52 per cent of women who are married or in a union freely make their own decisions about sexual relations, contraceptive use, and health care. The United Nations has identified transforming harmful gender norms as a critical goal among its 17 Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
Dr. Hadas Dahary earned her Ph.D. in School/Applied Child Psychology at 鲍鱼直播 under the supervision of Dr. Eve-Marie Quintin. Her doctoral research was supported by the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Doctoral Scholarship and competitive national autism research training initiatives, including the Quebec Autism Research Training (ART) Program, offered by the Azrieli Centre for Autism Research (ACAR) and the Transforming Autism Care Consortium (TACC) in Montreal.

The research on children's screen time has shown that less is more, however when it comes to a child鈥檚 development, parents should spend less time worrying about their kids鈥� screen time and focus more on reducing their own.

Dr. Kristy A. Robinson, Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, has received the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) President鈥檚 New Researcher Award.
She will accept the award at this year's CPA convention in Ottawa (June 21-23), where she will also deliver an invited talk on her work.
This award recognizes the exceptional quality of her contributions to psychological knowledge in Canada as an early career researcher.
Dr. Armando Bertone, ECP, was recently interviewed by Sid Lee Montreal's Sid Stories, discussing Neurodiversity, Creativity, Education and Research.
Dr. Bertone and his colleague Jesse Heffring, Director of Development of Summit School, talked about the different programs and creative outlets available to neurodivergent learners attending Summit School, a place where research and creativity co-exist.
