The Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Unit of the McConnell Brain Imaging Centre (BIC) at the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI, 鲍鱼直播) is looking to fill the position of a full鈥恡ime Research Assistant. We are seeking to hire a PET specialist to make a difference in an outstanding scientific environment, at the crossroads between cellular and molecular biology, radiochemistry, brain imaging physics, biophysical modelling and neuroscience.

We are happy to announce that Dr. David Rudko is joining the BIC鈥檚 MRI Unit as the Research Assistant (part-time) in charge of the 7-T small animal MRI operations. If you are interested in accessing the scanner, please contact David david [dot] rudko [at] mcgill [dot] ca (directly).

David is also a Postdoctoral Fellow with Drs. Arnold and Narayanan, funded by a fellowship from the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada and the CIHR Neuroinflammation Training Program.

The Museum of Natural Sciences of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences has just opened a new permanent exhibition in Brussels: ''. The Museum has asked Dr. D. Louis Collins whether they could produce a 3-D print of the historical Colin27 brain. This brain is that of a human volunteer scanned 27 times in an MRI, back in 1998.

Diurnal fluctuations in brain volume

The brain shrinks over the course of the day, ending up smaller in the evening 鈥 before returning to its full size the next morning. That鈥檚 according to a new study from BIC Principal Investigators Arnold and Collins and collaborators, based on an analysis of about 10,000 MRI scans.
