Michael Bleho honoured with 2020 Distinguished Contribution Catalyst Award

As Coordinator of the Horticulture Research Centre at the Macdonald Campus Farm, Michael [Bleho] has demonstrated his commitment to sustainability through his daily interactions with students and his work making the agricultural process more eco-friendly throughout his 30 years at the Centre. Michael was a driving force in establishing ‘ֱ Feeding ֱ’, an initiative which directly provides Macdonald Campus produce to campus dining halls.

Our Top Students: 2020 Macdonald and Stewart Medal Recipients

Congrats to these exceptional Macdonald students who achieved the highest aggregate standing in the first or second year of their respective programs! The Macdonald Medals (BSc(AgEnvSc), BEng(Bioresource) and BSc(FSc) programs) and Stewart Medals (BSc(NutrSc) progam) were presented at the recent Scholastic Awards Ceremony.

Arctic Researcher wins prestigious 2020 L’Oréal Canada For Women in Science Research Excellence Fellowship

Emily Choy [Post Doctoral Fellow, NRS. Advisor : Kyle Elliott] became hooked on the Arctic when, as a Master’s student, she jumped on a research opportunity to study the effects of manmade contaminants on High Arctic food webs on Devon Island, Nunavut. “When I experienced how out of the world it was and observed the wildlife that are so highly adapted to the Arctic environment, I just fell in love,” says Choy.

In Memoriam: Emeritus Professor John R. Ogilvie (1930 – 2020)

John R. Ogilvie, BScAgr’54, PhD, FCSBE, FASABE, P.Eng., P.Ag (Dist), 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, a leader in agricultural and bioresource engineering, died on March 20, 2020 at the age of 90, in Guelph, Ontario.

Robin Beech named ֱ's new Dean of Students

Congratulations to Professor Robin Beech (Parasitology) who will become ֱ’s Dean of Students on November 1.

Robin joined the Institute of Parasitology in 1992 and has served as the Associate Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies since 2015. In addition to his extensive experience in student advising, supervision, discipline and policy, he is skilled in conflict resolution, mediation and creative problem solving.
