Observerships

±«ÓãÖ±²¥

The Plastic Surgery Residency Program offers observerships ranging from one to three months. They are scheduled at the ±«ÓãÖ±²¥ Health Centre Adult Sites - i.e. Montreal General Hospital and Royal Victoria Hospital.

How to Apply:Ìý

The MUHC Education Directorate offers individuals interested in observing a MUHC healthcare professional the opportunity to apply for the MUHC Observership Program. Note, it is essential for all candidates to duly complete the required documentation and receive the approval from both the Education Directorate and Department of Professional Services prior to arriving at the MUHC.

Attached are the documents which are required to be completed, scanned in .pdf format and returned to theÌýattention of: annie.capua [at] muhc.mcgill.ca (refer to list below):

  1. Observership RequestÌý(Signatures for Supervisor and Director/Department Chief must be obtained by the administrative assistant of the physician who has agreed to supervise during the term of the observership)
  2. Confidentiality & Obligations form
  3. Agreement form
  4. Immunization record (MUHC requirements)
  5. MUHC Code of Conduct
  6. MUHC Code of Ethics
  7. Curriculum Vitae
  8. Liability Insurance: observer shall maintain comprehensive general and legal liability insurance coverage which includes civil liability insurance coverage (i.e. Personal Liability). Proof of insurance coverage must be provided to the MUHC to ensure candidate is covered during the term of their observership in the event s/he is involved in an incident with another individual who suffers from bodily injury and/or material (i.e. hospital equipment) damages occur

Please note, for International visitors interested in completing an Observership Request, copies of the following documentation must be included with their request:

  • Passport
  • Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) OR Visa: Websites and/or
  • Travel Insurance: recommended

Please note that observership status only allows one to observe. There is no hands on clinical care allowed, an observer cannot scrub into cases in the OR.
